City's Jewitt-Filteau captures bronze medal
CORDONIA, Italy - Moose Jaw's Nancy Jewitt-Filteau picked up a bronze medal at the Tre Tori judo tournament in Cordonia, Italy Sunday.

Filteau, a member of the Moose Jaw Judo Club who recently qualified for the 1996 Olympics, was third in the women's 72kg. and over division.

Filteau's bronze was one of eight medals won by Canada at the 32-country tournament. Keith Morgan of Calgary struck gold, winning all five of his bouts including the final over Aurelio Miguel of Brazil, the silver medalist at the 1993 world championships.

In the women's 56 kilograms, Marie-Josee Morneau of Montreal grabbed the silver medal, losing to American Corrina Broz in the final. Morneau was leading late in the bout but was disqualified for an illegal hold. Other Canadian bronze medals were won by Colin Morgan of Calgary, Keith's twin brother, in men's 78 kilograms, Taro Tan of Montreal in men's 65 kilograms, Michelle Buckingham of Ottawa in women's 61 kilograms, Carolyne Lepage of Montreal in women's 48 kilograms and Niki Jenkins of Winnipeg in women's 72 kilograms.
