The Moose Jaw Koseikan Judo Club dominated the mats at a pair of recent competitions.From Prince Albert, team members hauled home nine medals.
In Cadet Boys' action, Bronson Belisle (26-kilogram class) won gold, while silver winners were Chris Gerry (26 kg), Derek Duzan (29 kg) and Vince Langevin (43 kg). Mark Kerr (52 kg) added a bronze and Eli Jacobson (52 kg) was fifth.
Among Juvenile Girls, Tiara Dawm (44 kg) won gold and Leah Jacobson (52 kg) won bronze.
In men's events, Matthew Bespalko (74 kg) won Juvenile gold, while Jeff Nelson (60 kg) was third in the Senior class.
The club also dominated Cadet and Juvenile Championships at the Regina YMCA by capturing seven events.
Gold medal winners were: Bespalko (Juvenile Men, 74 kg); Rylee Blacklock (Cadet Boys, 36 kg); Glen Cullen (Juvenile Boys, 34 kg), Meaghen Cullen (Juvenile Girls, 52 kg); Kelly Gower (Cadet Boys, 50 kg); Leah Jacobson (Juvenile Girls, 61 kg); and Mark Kerr (Juvenile Boys, 54 kg).
Glen and Meaghen Cullen also won silver for their respective divisions, in the next-highest weight classes. Steven Erickson gave the team its thirs silver, playing runner-up in the Juvenile Men's 74 kg class.
Bronze medals came from Marisa Kerr (Cadet Girls, 41 kg) and Connor MacDonald (Cadet Boys, 23 kg).
The Koseikan club has moved to the Golden Mile Diner on the Exhibition Grounds and will hold regular classes Mondays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. (youth) and 8:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. for adults.
