The Moose Jaw Judo Club enjoyed several outstanding performances at a recent tournament in Melfort.The club brought home a total of 12 medals from the event, five of those gold.
Brian Smith ended up winning a complete set of medals, namely gold in the juvenile boys over-74 kilogram division, silver in the junior boys under-90 kg and bronze in the senior men under-90 kg.
Mark Pivor won two gold, in the under-100 kg junior boys and under-90 kg senior men.
Garth Rivers (cadet boys under-43 kilograms), Kaily Large (juvenile girls under-52 kg) also brought home gold medals.
Chris Gerrey (cadet boys under-30 kg), Marissa Kerr (cadet girls under-52 kg), Stephanie Legault (juvenile girls under-52 kg) and Mark Kerr (juvenile boys over-74 kg) won silver, while Stephan Gerry finished fourth in the cadet under-30 kg division.
The event acted as a warm-up for Large and Legault, who are competing in the Manitoba Open this Saturday, in preparation for competition in the Canada Winter Games.
